Singapore, 13 September 2019 (Friday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will perform at Choa Chu Kang estate on 21 September 2019. As part of the SPH Gift of Music Series sponsored by Singapore Press Holdings, the home-grown Chinese orchestra has since brought her distinctive sound to the community through its community concerts. On 21 September 2019 (Saturday) at 6.30pm, join SCO resident conductor Quek Ling Kiong at Moonlight Harmony concert. Residents are welcomed to bring along lanterns and light up the Hardcourt beside Keat Hong Community Club together. Admission to the concert is free.

The concert will commence with the lively tunes from Peng Xiuwen’s Axi People Dancing Under the Moon (阿细跳月) and Kuan Nai-chung’s Bumper Harvest Worship (丰年祭). Following next, the Xinyao Medley (新谣组曲) will be the highlight for fans of Xinyao, a popular music movement that blossomed in Singapore in the 1980s. The orchestra will present songs composed by renowned pioneers of Xinyao, Liang Wern Fook and Eric Moo. The orchestra will also perform Medley of Television Drama Theme Songs (电视主题曲联奏), rearranged by SCO’s composer-in-residence Law Wai Lun.

In this concert, 29 year-old singer-songwriter Wawan Husen will also be singing a few Malay folk songs, such as: Rasa Sayang, Bunga Sayang and Kaulah Segalanya. SCO will then end the concert with local favourites Moonlight in the City (城里的月光) and Full Moon Blossoms (花好月圆); these heart-warming pieces are bound to tug at your heartstrings. This concert is co-organised by Keat Hong Community Club Management committee, in conjunction with Keat Hong Mid-Autumn 2019.
