Singapore, 24 October 2019 (Thursday) – As the sole professional Chinese orchestra locally, Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will be collaborating with students of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) to perform at Singapore Conference Hall on 31 October 2019. This free concert also serves as a unique platform for the coalescence of different generations of Chinese music practitioners – both current and future.

Under the baton of resident conductor Quek Ling Kiong, the concert will feature contemporary orchestral and chamber pieces with deeper compositional techniques. The concert will kick off with Phang Kok Jun’s chamber composition,
Ripples (水戏), which features the NAFA Chinese Music Ensemble led by SCO Pipa Principal Yu Jia and Guzheng Associate Principal Xu Hui. Following NAFA Chinese Music Ensemble’s performance of Dukezong (独克宗) by Li Bo Chan, the concert segues into The Insect World (昆虫世界) by Doming Lam and Late Autumn (晚秋) by Ye Guo Hui - performed by the impressive SCO-NAFA combined orchestra.

Admission to the concert is free and tickets can be redeemed online via Eventbrite (https://sconafa1910.eventbrite.sg). This concert is co-organized by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, National Arts Council, Tote Board and Temasek Foundation.
