dream

Singapore, 19 November 2019 (Tuesday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra collaborates with China’s national class one conductor Dong Junjie and tenor Wang Zenan for the very first time. Don’t miss this eye-opening concert, featuring SCO’s gaohu musician Xu Wenjing, as she charms the audiences with her erhu-concerto Dream Interpretation. Conducted by Dong Junjie, this one-night only concert will be held on 7 December 2019 (Saturday), 8pm at SCO Concert Hall.

Rated as a China’s national class one conductor, Dong Junjie now serves as deputy president of Tianjin Municipal Song and Dance Theatre, and head, music director, and chief conductor of the Opera Troupe affiliated to Tianjin Song and Dance Theater, as well as the music director and chief conductor of National Orchestra of Tianjin song and dance theatre. His powerful yet soothing baton strokes will charm audiences, as the orchestra performs Liu Xijin’s Continuous Prosperity, famous Chinese composer Zhao Jiping’s Fourth movement: The Memory of The Desert Smoke and Xu Changjun’s Dragon Dance.

With his immaculately clear, divine voice, the multi-award-winning tenor Wang Zenan is one of the young talented vocalists. In this concert, Wang Zenan will be presenting 5 melodious pieces, together with the orchestra: Never-setting Sun Rises over the Prairie, Lyrics and music by Meiliqige; That Faraway Place, by Wang Luobin; Almihan, an Uyghur folk song, lyrics by Wang Luobin; Swan Geese, an Urad folk song, lyrics by Lu Yanwei, arranged by Law Wai Lun and O Sole Mio (My Sunshine), Music by Eduardo di Capua, lyrics by Giovanni Capurro. Familiar favourites, not to be missed!

SCO’s gaohu musician Xu Wenjing will delicately illustrate the profound meanings of composer Liu Chang Yuan's erhu concerto Dream Interpretation. In the 10 linked sections, the expressive erhu showcases panoply of moods. The dream began mysteriously, working its way through joy, happiness and longing, to the feelings of fear and horror, before dreams of awakening.

Dream Reminiscences will be held at the SCO Concert Hall on 7 December 2019, at 8pm. The tickets which are priced at $38, $48, $58 and $78, are selling out fast via SISTIC. The show is approximate 2 hours.
