Singapore, 14 January 2020 (Tuesday) – To usher in the Chinese New Year this January 2020, Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will be presenting 3 heartwarming concerts, filled with classics and festive cheer, bringing smiles to Singaporeans. Admission is free and all are welcome to join SCO at 3 different locations: Far East Plaza, One Raffles Quay and Gardens by the Bay.

SCO will be performing at Far East Plaza on 18 January 2020, 6pm, under the baton of SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay. The concert will hit the ground running with energetic renditions of iconic pieces Spring Festival Overtures《春节序曲》, Greatest Hits of JJ Lin《林俊杰金曲联奏》, King of Romantic Hits《情歌王》and Super Mario Brothers Theme Medley 《马里奥兄弟组曲》. The orchestra will also perform How to train your Dragon, Spring《春》 and festive pieces such as Chinese New Year Medley《新年组曲》to welcome the Chinese New Year. Join us on 18 January 2020 and indulge in the festive vibes. This concert is sponsored by Far East Organization and Far East Plaza.

SCO will be performing at One Raffles Quay on 23 January 2020, 12.30pm, under the baton of SCO resident conductor Quek Ling Kiong. Kicking off the concert, the orchestra will brighten up the afternoon with an opening piece Golden Rat Welcoming the Spring 《金鼠闹春》, to usher in the year of Rat. The orchestra will also perform Spring Breeze Kisses My Face 《春风吻上我的脸》, Tian Mi Mi《甜蜜蜜》and Cowboy on the Run 《牛仔很忙》。SCO Suona musician Meng Jie will charm the audiences with his rendition of Moon Over My Heart《月亮代表谁的心》and the SCO Erhu musicians will perform Horse Racing《赛马》. The orchestra will also perform Medley of Sichuan Folk Songs《四川民歌串烧曲》, lively pieces such as Mice Love Rice老鼠爱大米, Don’t Worry Be Happy and Top of the World. Last but not least, the orchestra will round up the lunchtime concert with Gong Xi Gong Xi 《恭喜恭喜》. This concert is sponsored by Deutsche Bank, with One Raffles Quay Pte Ltd as venue partner.

SCO will be performing at the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay on 31 January 2020, 7pm and 8pm, under the baton of SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay. The first half an hour of the concert features a selection of easy listening pieces including Lemon Tree《柠檬树》, Chrysanthemum Terrace《菊花台》, Spring《春》 and Chinese New Year Medley《新年组曲》. The second part of the concert features lighthearted tunes, including Jasmine《茉莉花》, Dance of the Young Maidens《玫瑰少女之舞》, Hungarian Dance No.6《匈牙利舞曲第六号》and Spring Festival Overture《迎春贺喜》. Join us on 31 January 2020 and indulge in the jubilant atmosphere, on a Friday evening. This concert is part of Gardens by the Bay’s Chinese New Year programme, “Spring Surprise” (春● 喜).
