Singapore, 31 May 2018 (Thursday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s Community Series concert goes to Jurong East Central on 30 June 2018 (Saturday), proudly sponsored by Singapore Press Holdings’ SPH Gift of Music Series, with a repertoire of SCO’s best encore pieces. Admission is free.

Under the baton of Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong, SCO will present familiar crowd pleaser pieces such as Peng Xiu Wen’s Axi People Dancing Under the Moon, Georges Bizet’s Farandole and two lively pieces by Johann Strauss, Pizzicato Polka and Thunder and Lightning Polka; community favourites such as Malay and Indian folksongs Rasa Sayang, Yarkaiyin Kaatchhi and Taiwanese pop song Longing for the Spring Breeze (望春风); as well as Chinese classics Overture from Dream of Red Chamber and American blues St. Louis Blues.

The De-4 Strings @ Yuhua will perform with SCO to sing a selection of familiar pieces including Xinyao favourite Friendship Forever (细水长流), and a favourite from The Carpenters- Top of the World. In addition, the Ensemble will be singing Singapore Town from Eric Watson’s A Journey Around Singapore, a piece featuring different areas of Singapore through music.
