Singapore, 9 September 2018 (Monday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will celebrate mid-autumn with Hougang residents at the Ci Yuan Community Club on 22 September 2018. This concert is part of the SCO Community Series’ Encore, SCO! concerts which SCO performs the best of encore pieces to the community. This concert is proudly sponsored by the Singapore Press Holdings’ SPH Gift of Music Series. Concert is free with ticketed admission. Tickets are fully redeemed. Walk-in audience will be admitted on first-come-first-served basis based on seat availability.

 

SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong will lead the orchestra to perform a selection of music pieces to celebrate mid-autumn festival. Audience will get to hear Full Moon and Blooming Flowers(花好月圆); suona musician Meng Jie will perform Yue Qin(月琴)while zhongruan musician Wu Ru-Ching will perform Moon Song(月亮歌) with SCO. Guanzi musician Han Lei will perform his rendition of Stardust, arranged by Tan Kah Yong.

 

SCO will also perform Henry Mancini’s Mancini Medley, Chen Jiaming’s Moonlight in the City(城里的月光), Chinese classic piece Rousing Clouds Chasing the Moon(彩云追月); familiar pieces like Hungarian Dance No. 5, Georges Bizet’s Carmen Suite, and Wang Chenwei’s Kaleidoscopic World of Percussion, which consists of familiar tunes like Chan Mali ChanMunnaeru Vaalibaa and Singapore Town.

  

This concert is co-organised by Ang Mo Kio – Hougang CCC and Ci Yuan Community Club.
