Singapore, 28 January 2019 (Monday) – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s Music Oasis concert series returns to the Gardens by the Bay this February. Welcome Chinese New Year and celebrate spring with SCO as SCO performs a selection of spring and popular pop melodies. SCO Music Oasis Concert – Spring Celebrations at the Gardens will be on 2 February 2019 (Saturday), 6.30pm at Gardens by the Bay Supertree Grove. The concert will be conducted by SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay. Admission is free.
Drumming up the concert to a festive start is a popular percussion favourite A Well-Matched Fight （龙腾虎跃）by Li Min Xiong followed by Sim Boon Yew’s rearrangement of Chinese New Year Medley（迎春贺喜）, which includes popular Chinese New Year songs The Return of Spring to the Good Earth （大地回春）, Flowers of Spring （迎春花）and Gong Xi Gong Xi（恭喜恭喜）, to welcome the Year of the Pig.
SCO sheng musicians Zhong Zhiyue and Kevin Cheng Ho Kwan will perform with SCO in the Bob Creve and Bob Gandio favourite Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, rearranged by Zhong Zhiyue. Sing along as SCO will also perform popular Chinese pop songs King of Romantic Hits（情歌王）and Greatest Hits of JJ Lin（林俊杰金曲联奏）to get you into the mood of romance.
To wish audience a year of abundance (年年有余), Ma Sheng Long and Gu Guan Ren’s classic work Fishermen’s Song of the Eastern Seas（东海渔歌）will aptly round off the evening’s festivities.
