Popular getai artistes Hao Hao and Lee Pei Fen will sing with SCO to celebrate Mother’s Day
Singapore, 28 April 2017 (Friday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s annual favourite Mother’s Day Concert returns with a unique selection of songs that are reminiscent of a mother’s love. Under the baton of SCO resident conductor Quek Ling Kiong, the orchestra will join hands with popular getai singers Hao Hao and Lee Pei Fen to put up all-time favourite classics. SCO Mother’s Day Concert: A Kiss from Mum will be held on 13 May 2017 (Saturday), 3pm and 8pm at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Auditorium.
Renowned composer Gu Guan Ren’s The Lovable Rose will kick start the concert. SCO erhu musician Shen Qin and guzheng musician Xu Hui will perform A Song Dedicated to Mum and San Zi Jing respectively. The traditional Chinese instrumental pieces effectively convey the love, respect and gratitude for mothers. SCO’s dedication of songs to mums also include A Kiss from Mum, The Mother in the Candle Light, Reminiscing the Past with Mother as well as Mother, You are Great.
SCO Pop Ensemble will perform the Medley of Sichuan Folk Songs which includes the famous Love Song of Kangding, Huang Yang Bian Dan and The Sunrise Brings A Joyful Day. This piece depicts the warmth and zeal of Sichuan people, as well as their living culture.
Famous getai singers Hao Hao and Lee Pei Fen have won numerous awards and both singers have amazing vocals and a flair in hosting. This is also the first time Hao Hao is singing with SCO. Together with Lee Pei Fen, they will sing Chinese, Cantonese and Hokkien classics from the 1970s and 80s including I Really Love You, Frosty River Snow, Wife, Grandma’s Words, Lu Bing Hua, and The Mother in My Dreams.
