Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant to welcome the Chinese New Year with Musical Bento Box Lunchtime Concert on 17 January
Singapore, 27 December 2017 (Wednesday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) and Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant’s signature Musical Bento Box Lunchtime Concert at UOB Plaza Atrium returns on the 17 January 2018 (Wednesday) at 12 noon. This hour-long concert will be conducted by SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong. Admission is free and audience can look forward to savings on their Chinese New Year meals at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant.
To celebrate spring and to welcome the upcoming year of the Dog, the SCO ensemble will perform a selection of spring-themed repertoire. These familiar tunes will bring a welcome mid-day respite to the audience, allowing them to enjoy music while taking a lunch break from their hectic work life.
SCO will perform Yao Min’s Spring Breeze Kisses My Face (春风吻上我的脸), Law Wai Lun’s rearrangement of Celebrating the New Year (贺新年), Dayn Ng Chee Yao’s Return of Spring to SG, which is a rearrangement of the festive piece The Tune of Spring, which comprises of Malay, Indian and jazz music elements, reflecting the multicultural vibrancy of Singapore, and more! SCO’s dizi musician, Zeng Zhi, will perform Spring on the Xiang River (春到湘江) with the ensemble.
Audience will be able to enjoy a preview of Si Chuan Dou Hua’s Chinese New Year signature dishes in a bento lunch, priced at $13 and a bowl of the restaurant’s signature dessert- Homemade Fine Bean Curd with Wolfberries at an additional $2. Audience can also receive up to $50 worth of cash vouchers when they make a reservation and deposit for their choice of set menu during the 16 days of Chinese New Year at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant. Reservations can be made during Musical Bento Box or at any of the Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant outlets in Singapore from 17 to 19 Janunary.
This concert is in collaboration with Si Chuan Dou Hua, with the concert venue proudly supported by UOB.
