Chew Keng How

Chew Keng How, a seasoned huqin musician in Singapore who specializes in performing folk music. He is currently an erhu performer with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist at various Singapore Festival of Arts including diyin erhu concerto Unyielding Su Wu and erhu concerto Departed after Wedding and Great Wall Capriccio winning high acclaims.

He has represented the Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra and the People’s Association Chinese Orchestra to perform in various countries including America, Japan, Austria, Philippine, Malaysia, Switzerland and Hong Kong. He won the second prize in the World Folk Music Competition held in England in 1972. He has also been invited as an advisor and adjudicator for music competitions held in Malaysia. He is currently the advisor of the Singapore Erhu Society and Pei Nan Secondary School Chinese Orchestra in Ipoh, a Conductor of the Zhuan Yi Arts Centre Chinese Orchestra and Hui Yin Association Chinese Orchestra in Malaysia.
