Zhang Lie, music director and principal conductor of Guangdong National Orchestra, will lead SCO in performing a night of imageries. Under Zhang Lie’s precise and exquisite conducting, Chinese vocalist Cui Rui will showcase her crystal vocals through Zhao Ji Ping’s masterpiece, Symphonic Suite: Qiao’s Grand Courtyard. She will also perform the Singapore premiere of Symphonic Fantasia: Farewell, My Concubine, which is laced with Puccini style and oriental flavour of Chinese composer Guan Xia. In addition, SCO’s daruan musician, Jing Po, will perform local composer Phang Kok Jun’s Distant Bells while dizi musician Yin Zhi Yang will perform dizi concerto Through the Western Pass.
