Renowned conductor Yan Hui Chang, artistic director and principal conductor of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, will return to lead the SCO to present Liu Xing’s Folk Symphony No.3, Doming Lam’s Qiu Jue and Phoon Yew Tien’s Overture – Step Up and Up. Yan Hui Chang will share the stage with SCO concertmaster Li Bao Shun in the melodic erhu concerto The Soul of the Snow Mountain. Guanzi musician Han Lei will also take the audience on a journey through Northwestern China with Zhao Ji Ping’s The Silk Road Fantasia Suite where audience will experience the sense of mystery surrounding the trade route – the vastness of the desert, the exotic chimes of caravan bells, and the lingering wisps of its ancient presence.
