Singapore International Competition for Chinese Orchestra Composition

The first SCO International Competition for Chinese Orchestral Compositions was held in 2006. It was an effort to attract talented composers in Singapore and overseas to create “Chinese orchestral works with strong Nanyang musical flavour”. Over the years, we have compiled a good number of these works that were submitted for the competition.

This publication of Nanyang music scores “Charms of Nanyang” contains 6 award-winning works, with each of them touching on a unique subject matter and mode of musical expression. They include works by local and regional composers such as Law Wai Lun, Eric Watson, Wang Chenwei, Simon Kong Su Leong, Yii Kah Hoe and Tang Lok Yin. We hope that the works are not only popular with our local audience and performers, but will also gain overseas interest.
