“Tunes of SCO” features performances by Singapore Chinese Orchestra. There are two programmes designed specifically for Primary and Secondary levels. Each a 45-minute long session, the orchestra performance will act as an introduction to the full Chinese orchestra experience.
The primary school “Tunes of SCO” programme is titled Fun with SCO. This programme takes the music experience beyond the stage. Students will be engaged aurally as the conductor and SCO musicians illustrate, through highlighting how Chinese orchestral music is associated with our local cultures, with nature and also in our daily lives.
In the “Tunes of SCO” programme for secondary schools (titled Style and Genre with SCO), students will explore, under the guidance of our conductor, the different genre of music, ranging from Chinese orchestral classics, to western to pop. It also features how Chinese orchestral music today reflects the cultural mosaic we live in. A selection of NE-themed music is incorporated in the programme and students will gain an understanding of how music unique to our local ethnic groups has been given a contemporary touch over the years, representative of modern, changing times.
Lively and informative, “Tunes of SCO” will be accompanied by simple quizzes and fun interaction with our conductor and musicians. Selected audience will also have the opportunity to join our SCO musicians in the music-making experience.
Please note that there are limited slots available for Tunes of SCO, and bookings will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
