Singapore, 2 July 2012 (Monday) – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO), our country’s national and sole professional Chinese orchestra, is celebrating its 15th anniversary. It is organising a Fundraising Gala Dinner & Concert titled Dazzling Reverberations to celebrate this event with its partners and donors. It will be held at Resorts World Sentosa, Central Ballroom, on Saturday 7 July 2012.

This special event will be graced by our Patron, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. In addition, SCO’s newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors, Patrick Lee and our Honorary Chairman, Robin Hu, will host many prominent Singaporean leaders and friends of the Orchestra.

To date, this fundraising event has garnered an amount more than the set target of $500,000, with more than 50% pledged by new donors. General enquiries on donations from the public are still coming in progressively. All proceeds will go into the development and operational cost of the SCO.

Other than the six-course fusion Chinese dinner by Resorts World Sentosa, guests can look forward to a grand feast of spectacular music performances led by Music Director Tsung Yeh. One of the highlights will be a performance of the first movement The Sun from The New Millennium of the Dragon Year, the robust percussion masterpiece by Kuan Nai Chung. This piece coincides with the year 2012, which is also the Year of the Dragon, will be played as a best wish for SCO’s future endeavours. The two performing soloists Duan Fei and Tan Loke Chuah are SCO’s Associate Principals for Percussion.

The Orchestra will also perform Fang Xiao Min’s Impressions of Guangdong and Stone-slab Waist Drums from Tan Dun’s masterwork Yellow Earth. Our special Taiwanese guest performer, the famous Ms. Tang Na, will serenade guests with four golden tunes. The evening will be concluded with Dick Lee’s heart-warming Home.
