Singapore, 14 November 2012 (Wednesday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s annual favourite Chinese New Year concert returns for an early welcoming of spring in 2013. This year’s concert is a second collaboration with the Singapore Press Holdings’ UFM 100.3 radio station after a rousing performance in 2012. Uprising musician-singer Wu Jia Hui will also be the guest star in this concert. Rhapsodies of Spring 2013 will be conducted by SCO Music Director Tsung Yeh.

With two sold-out nights in 2012 and the musical skit choreographed by UFM 100.3, which received rave reviews by the media and audience, the radio station will specially choreograph and present another comedy-musical skit for this concert titled New Madame White Snake, which promises to bring the house on non-stop roaring laughter with the DJs’ witty and spontaneous personalities! The DJs will also challenge rap, with the SCO on accompaniment, to rap a commissioned rearrangement by Tan Kah Yong – A Different New Year Song. What’s more! The multi-talented DJs will also surprise the audience with a ukulele performance! They will use this Hawaiian small guitar-like instrument to perform renowned xinyao songmaker Liang Wern Fook’s Watch The Sunrise With Me.

Fans of Malaysian fresh and uprising singer, Wu Jia Hui, should not miss this opportunity to catch him live with the SCO! Wu Jia Hui will debut with SCO with his popular songlist – Although I’m Willing, Do You Love Me, and One Half, the theme song from local movie “881”.

Besides the string of entertainment, all-time Chinese New Year songs are not to be missed! SCO will perform Chinese New Year classics such as Li Huan Zhi’s Spring Festival Overture. SCO’s suona masters Jin Shi Yi and Liu Jiang will also perform a suona duet Huan Tian Xi Di. There will also be the grand finale sing-along with UFM 100.3 DJs with a medley of Chinese New Year songs including Bai Nian, Gong Xi Gong Xi and Return of Spring. This two-night concert is bound to bring festive cheer to everyone! Don’t miss it!
