Singapore, 16 April 2015 (Thursday) –Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s popular Young Children’s Concert: The Little Adventurer of SCO is here again! In the last four series, Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong (known as “Mr Quek” in his role) has brought the little adventurers to discover the four sections of the Chinese orchestra. In this concert, Mr Quek will bring the kids on a music journey to explore the connections between science and music, math and music, music dynamics and the temperament of music!

The story begins with Mr Quek’s last adventure under the sea where he was caught in the ocean currents and unfortunately went into a coma. Fortunately, he was saved by a little mermaid who prescribed him a magical music potion. After drinking the potion, Mr Quek was saved and transformed to a phenomenon music master! He is now a know-all Professor Quek!

SCO  will perform a series of popular music such as Under the SeaDiscover the Magic of Music, Prince Sang Nila Utama and Singa, A Musical Adventure, Flying Apsaras, Do Re Mi, Sabre Dance and Carmen Suite. Through these songs, Professor Quek will introduce music pitch and illustrate how different pitch can be transformed into wonderful melody. He will also use Real Time Analyzer (RTA) to show the graphs of various pitches on a screen, illustrate the interesting connections between  science and music.
