Singapore, 28 July 2015 (Tuesday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) collaborates with National Day Parade (NDP) Committee to present Concert by the Bay as part of our National Day Parade 2015 celebrationsConducted by SCO Music Director Tsung Yeh, local vocal band MICapella and Women Police Pipes & Drums will come together to perform in the free concert held on 8 August 2015 (Saturday), 7.30pm, at Marina Bay Sands Waterfront Promenade Event Plaza.

Chinese composer Xu Chang Jun’s Dragon Dance, which world-premiered in Singapore, will mark the start of this concert. Inspired after witnessing the Singapore’s Chingay parade in 1989, he composed this piece to portray the festivity and infectious atmosphere. Singapore’s Women Police Pipes & Drums Group will participate in the performance of Singamedley, a collection of familiar local tunes such as Rasa Sayang, Munnaeru Valiba and Singapura, using the Scottish Bagpipe. Local vocal group MICappella will be serenading the audience with local compositions such as Xi Shui Chang Liu (Liang Wern Fook), Moonlight in the City (Chen Jiaming), Wo Chi De Qi Ku (Chen Jiaming) and Here We go (MICappella). Singapore’s national favourite song will not be missed – SCO will also perform  the heartwarming piece, Home.

Choral group – Vocal Associates will perform in the final segment of the concert in Ode to Singapore and Stand Up for Singapore. Expect a rousing end to the performance with fireworks at the finale, synchronized to the performance of Stand Up for Singapore.
