Singapore, 14 September 2015 (Monday) – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will hold its Fundraising Gala Dinner and Concert on 9 October 2015 (Friday) at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Hotel. This event will be graced by SCO Patron, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

SCO’s annual fundraising gala raises funds for the development and to fund the operations of the orchestra. Under the baton of Music Director Tsung Yeh, this year’s fundraising gala theme “A Resounding Golden Jubilee” will be SCO’s tribute to the nation’s golden 50th birthday. The evening, which comprises of two segments, will start with the first segment of three repertoires specially selected and dedicated to Singapore and all guests – Medley of Drama Theme SongsAn Independent Note (renowned local veteran actor Lim Kay Tong as narrator) and Home.

As guests enjoy the 5-course fusion dinner, the second segment of the concert will feature the beauty and uniqueness of the Chinese instrument shengSheng is the instrumental theme of this year’s fundraising gala dinner and concert. SCO musicians will showcase sheng’s pieces including Making Up The Numbers, the world premiere of sheng and orchestra piece Vitality composed by sheng musician Zhong Zhi Yue, J.S. Bach’s Air – Suite No. 3 in D major and Bob Gaudio’s Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.
