Groove with SCO on 18 February at SCO Community Concert at Far East Plaza

Singapore, 3 February 2017 (Friday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will perform at Far East Plaza in the month of love to pump up your shopping weekend! SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong will conduct SCO’s Community Concert: SCO Dynamite! on 18 February 2017 (Saturday), 6pm at Far East Plaza. Free admission.

 The concert will kickstart with Rock 2002, an energetic piece that adopted the traditional pentatonic scale combined with the rock rhythm to pump up the atmosphere. This is followed by the performance of A Little Happiness, the theme song from the popular Chinese movie “Our Times”. SCO will also perform a medley of popular hits from local singer Lin Jun Jie, also known as JJ Lin in Golden Classics of JJ. These two familiar songs will appeal to the younger audience who can sing along with the catchy tune.  

 SCO will also perform Hip Hop Orchard Road to complement the location of this community concert. SCO suona/guan principal Jin Shi Yi will perform his interpretation of this lively piece on the gaoyin suona. SCO will also perform two romantic pieces, Can’t Help Falling in Love and Can’t Take My Eyes off You which feature SCO zhongyin sheng musicians Zhong Zhi Yue and Kevin Cheng Ho Kwan.

 Audience can also enjoy the performance of lively piece, The Medley for Young, which includes songs like Forever Young, The Young Ones and YMCA. The finale of the concert will feature vibrant Tango dance piece, Libertango, enticing the audience to sway along to the rhythmic groove of the music.
