SCO and Lianhe Zaobao Digital Platforms to launch the World’s First Chinese Orchestra Online Digital Concert

Singapore, 28 October 2016 (Friday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) collaborates with Lianhe Zaobao digital platforms to present the first Chinese orchestra online digital concert in the world. The Strings Fantasy concert held on 26 November 2016 (Saturday) will be broadcasted in high definition via the Zaobao digital platforms. This year, SCO celebrates its 20th anniversary with a starry line-up of concerts and new initiative, which are in line with SCO’s vision and mission to aspire to be a world renowned Chinese Orchestra with a uniquely Singapore character, and to inspire Singapore and the World with our music.

Lianhe Zaobao is an influential and authoritative newspaper giving valuable insights into Singapore and foreign news. It is the most-read Chinese newspaper and a trusted information source for the Chinese-speaking community. Through its digital platforms, the paper is able to give readers timely and in-depth coverage of significant events taking place in the region and beyond. This collaboration between SCO and Lianhe Zaobao digital platforms is the perfect union for broadcasting world-class performance by a reputable digital platform. Internationally renowned violinist Lu Siqing – the first Asian to win the Paganini Violin Competition – will perform with acclaimed cellist Qin Li-Wei, who heads Cello Studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in the Strings Fantasy concert. Led by Music Director Tsung Yeh, SCO will present pieces by celebrated composers Zhao Ji Ping and Chen Gang such as Zhuang Zhou’s Dreams and The Sun Shines on Tashkurghan. The concert will also feature The Celestial Web, a symphonic poem by Singaporean artist Tan Swie Hian and music by local composer Law Wai Lun.
